"I am an only child and have an autistic aspect to my character, in addition to this I am also a shy person. I was bullied at school and called all kinds of names. You can imagine how unkind other children were and some parents, especially when they called me a retard or spastic. Their reactions to me made me feel like a leper. My childhood with other children was not a good one, but I had parents who loved me, cared for me and gave me strength to carry on going to school. I carried the stigma of what others said about me for many years. Even now as an adult I am wary of people and tend to be somewhat cautious in building new relationships and trusting of others. As I grew older I had to learn to deal with people. Especially as I went into higher education. I made some good friends in university; mainly foreign friends and people from ethnic minority backgrounds, as they did not judge me for my ‘weirdness’. Also, I enjoyed the company of my tutors who were always pushing me ahead in my studies and asked about my work as they could see my potential. When my parents died I felt so completely alone in the world. These tutors and friends became my second family. Being an only child in the world and having very little or no family makes you realise things about life. The small group of friends that I did have and the work that I was beginning to be successful in were safety nets to my well-being. Now I have progressed to an international company and heading a department. But I am going through a relationship that is slipping away from me. I have a child and my partner has kidnapped him to the USA. Again my autism is being used against me with my child. I feel as though I am in that school playground again with people being cruel to me. My friends have helped and supported me with recommendations for legal help and generally being there for me. The result is that now I have a small support team of people who care about me and that includes RISE coaching who are helping me with mindset issues that are impacting upon my professional, social and personal life. I am taking the Speed Dialling Your Path To Succeed to help keep my mind, body and soul together as I go through the doubt and the upheaval at this stage in my life. I need support to help with the clarity of this life journey. To help me see solutions through the growing reclusiveness, anxiety, depression and the tears.
